VRS worn gear linkage? worn drive shafts?

Featured Replies

Ok, so I've got a fabia vrs. I bought the car recently and its an 2005 with 72,000 miles on the clock.

Since owning the car I have noticed that there's a noise when changing the gears, mainly between 1st, 2nd, 3rd gear. Its kinda hard to describe, but its a bit like there's some slack being taken up after you select the gear and lift the clutch. Sometimes the noise is just as I've changed gear... I mean the cars perfectly drive able and actually selecting gears is fine.

I can't figure out if its worn drive shafts, or something to do with the gear linkage. Has anyone else experienced this sort of thing? I would have thought a car with 70,000 miles would be nice and tight.

id be looking more towards play in the flywheel not the driveshafts. . if its still on the standard original flywheel that'd be what id inspect first.

:-)

any vibration in 5th/6th when pulling, if so possible DMF issue, not a problem more annoying than a problem

if still on original clutch you will probably have another 10-20k before it needs changing
