Freeview through Sky - E4 ?

Featured Replies

Since dicontinuing our Sky subscription, our Sky box has reverted to being a freeview box with all the free BBC channels from BBC, ITV and a few others.

However, since E4 arrived on freeview last month we've been unable to view it. The E4 ads say I may need to "re-scan" to receive it.

How do I re-scan my Sky box? I've tried the "add new channels" feature and also turned it off/on and removed the card.

Is E4 even available torough freeview Sky ?

E4 is normally on top up TV package, i.e you need to pay.

But its on air for everyone now because of big brother. Will probably go off after big brother has finished

AFAIK, when they talk of it now being free on Freeview, it means they are broadcasting the digital signal of it, ie. it can be picked up using an aerial and a digital set top box.

However, because Sky and cable don't use aerials and pretty much control their own broadcasting, they can have a different definition of FreeView to this, and it just comes down to which channels they want you to have for free.

Best bet might be to phone Sky and see if it's part of their freeview package...

Rob.

E4 an E4+1 are now free and no longer part of the topuptv package. My non topuptv freeview box now picks them up fine. Men and Motors is also now free, with regards to sky its proberbly like my old NTL box ie. can pick up some but not all channels, because even though its now free the channel is still part of a pack you need to pay for.

Looks like I'll have to go without seeing each Hollyoaks episode one day in advance then ;)

Am getting E4 on ntl now, haven't checked Men and Motors lately .... a job for this evening :D

What you now have, as I have, is not Freeview but Freesat, if you go on the sky website it lists what channels are available - unfortunately for you E4, E4+1, & men&motors is not free on Freesat, you'll have to get a Freeview box if you are in a Freeview reception area :P
