I'm after a decat for my standard exhaust, all I've found is this eBay - 300803513149 seems expensive for a decat and don't know if it will fit the standard exhaust or will it only fit a Miltek system?

Get a a piper decat, they come with a sleeve to mate it to the standard system.

Everytime I follow them round on a track day, or get near a tuned one ticking over the smell of the exhaust is decidedly unpleasent.

I had an old civic that passed with the battery totally unclamped down and flapping about. It is of course a fail but the guy was lazy; had it gone to 99% of places it would have failed.

A de cat is only an mot fail on a petrol. A diesel won't fail a mot for a de cat as there emissions tests are diffrent

If anyone is within reach of rochdale you should speak with Pete at Greenwoods exhausts. He knows his stuff and not dear at all. I am yet to get my fabia done but he did a decat on a golf mk4 gt tdi of mine for £70. Price may have changed a bit but I wouldn't have thoughtt by that much. Worth a call.

You need to make friends with an mot tester. Although mine did pass after it had all the work done with a tester i didnt know, no cat no boxes.

Well not anything there is a limit lol. When my mate does it its just stuff like the cat he lets through. I wouldnt want it through on bad things.

My vrs just passed its mot no problem with a de-cat.

A cat on a diesel isnt classed as a cat on a mot its classed a filter and there is nothing wrong with removing it so long as on the emissions test it doesnt go through the roof lol.

by the looks of it then, its literally just pot luck where u go whether it passes or not then, if that's the case, im a gambling kinda guy..

but do u have to by a branded de cat pipe, or what? whats the cheapest but effective way of doing it??

You don't need a branded pipe and it ain't pot luck if someone fails it it's not because your cats missing its because of emissions but obviously the cat helps lol. Just make sure you look after the engine like servicing and what not

But it may fail a smoke test, which is what I expect was meant above.

Although I'd be very surprised if a 'decat' made a car fail a smoke test.

It soot content or something stupid, so unless your car sets off a fire alarm in the MOT test station you should be fine lol.
