KIDS!

Featured Replies

Well to cut a long story short my son of 24 years has been driving a very economical 3 cylinder corsa (diesel) 07 plate, anyway yesterday a V5 arrived at the door addressed to him so I naturally opened it( parent privilege) it was for a Audi A6 3.2 litre tfsi Quattro auto WTF ! So from one extreme to the other :) are these kids driving with their salamis because that doesn't seem sensible to me

Good choice,

and i hope you enjoy driving it.

Let us know how he got on with his insurance since its in his name.

I had a son that made a similar rash decision but it never got put on my insurance.

Iv got a car with quadruple the amount of power my car i had when i passed my test had...2 and a bit years ago

Been on my own insurance since i past my test so iv built up some no claims which helps :)

I'm sure you'll offer to look after it for him, perhaps start it everyday and take for a quick run!!!!

Mmmmmm likely not to give it back lol

My sons will no doubt drive cars that are as low as mine currently, meaning that regardless of how much power they have, they can only crawl along at best.

He's 24 ... ;)

What i find quiet funny is that i pay 650 quid for my mk1 octy vrs and yet i can insure my dads volvo v50 d5 for half the price of my mine,

Think were always considered kids in our parents eyes, am 30 and still get called it

I'm 27 and the only person who knows about my 740i "toy" is my brother. Parents and Wife...its on the list lol.

ha ha, that rings a bell actually. I had to go and check on a car I have in long term storage last weekend but completely forgot I'd never told my better half about it when I suggested the day trip! She thought I'd sold it years ago, well, I had but I ended up buying it back but never told her. It's been in a lock up for 5 years!

the only issue I see here is that he's 24 and you open his mail ...

^ Yeah. Sorry mate, but I gotta go with MadPuppy on this one. He's 24. I could maybe stretch it until he's 20. But my parents won't touch anything with my name on it since I turned 18.

A friend of mine did a similar tradeup(down?) when he was 22. 2003 Ford Fiesta to a 1989 Audi V8. I thought he was mad until I drove the car. Well worth the extra insurance and tax. Dontnrule it out until you drive it mate. The 3.2 A6 is one of the best cars I've ever driven.

Like you said, your house, your rules. Besides, customs differ.

Cheers

Quite glad mine is younger at the moment.

At least they are cheaper to entertain, like this:

edit: this one is not mine BTW.

Haha! You've got one brave five year old, mate. Totally hardcore racer, that one. Just wait until she reaches driving age and she'll give you heart attack. My niece throws a tantrum if someone drives faster than 60, and their Passat or my Fabia doesn't accelerate anywhere near as fast as a GTR.

Opening your kids mail is a bit of a service thing. My son uses our house as his mail drop, as he occasionally lives here, he's 33. I open any official looking mail as he is in Afghan at the moment (I have his instructions on this), someone has to be his admin clerk. I also have a pile of mail to post as and when for family birthdays etc. A right regular post master I am.

He sounds like a young man of impeccable taste to me. Great choice of car!
