Help replacing aerial base

Featured Replies

I need to change the aerial base on my vRS.

I've seen this guide, which looks pretty straight forward: http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/258013-how-to-replace-fabia-aerial-base/...

..but I can't for the life of me get the trim away. Does anybody have any tips?

Just rang Skoda for a quote: they wanted well over £100 in labour saying it takes 1 and a half hours!

Needs a firm hand, I got mine loose from getting my fingers underneath the leading edge ( furthest away from tailgate seal) and then a sharp tug down and it came off.

I have had to do this twice to my car over the 4+ years that I have had the Fabia. The first time I removed this trim I broke it. 2nd time was no problem changed the aerial base in less than 15 mins

Hope this helps?

Regards

Davie

As above ,I lost my temper with mine and went incredible hulk on it :) but its simple once you get the trim off :)

Thanks. Pulling from this way made it a bit easier; finally managed to get it off, although all the metal clips stayed in the roof! Thank God none of the plastic broke.

Got too dark, plus I don't have a large enough spanner to undo the nut, so will have a go tomorrow.

The headlining doesn't seem to come down very far, is there enough space to get the job done, or am I being too timmid?

Yeh, needs a bit of force remember it will cause a crease in it. Can hardly see it in the rear view mirror.

Woohoo done it!

Replaced the long whip with the short Citroen one - Jesus thought I'd never get the old whip off!

Idealy, I wanted to use my Enfig aerial that I had on my Polo - its a lot like the Honda S2000 aerial but sits flusher; but its a bit too long and the spoiler hits it when you open the boot. Guess it will have to go on eBay.

Thanks for the advice everyone

This will probably be a stupid question but how do you take the aerial off the base ?once it's screwed out the aerial just keeps spinning then it seems to be able to swivel down
