CV Boot (Inner)

Featured Replies

Has anyone renewed theirs?

My N/S inner has a pin hole in it, And the outer (same side) is split!

Ordered 2 boot kits from TPS, The outer is spot on but the inner is a completely different design to the one on the car, Had TPS send another kit which is exactly the same as the first!

Can anyone shed any light? I only want to take the driveshaft off the once!

Sorry if my explanation seems slightly random, I'm up @3am this week, And I'm completely knackered, Only 2 shifts to go!

I digress, I really just want to know if anyone has changed theirs and the kit differed from the originals fitted. Need to get the outer done asap, But don't fancy having to remove the shaft again to do the inner a month or so down the line!

puncture repair kit for the pin hole on the inner lol

It should look the same m8..

Iv seen non-gen ones that have a slightly different shape but have the same size hole either end..

I would only fit genuine CV boots tho because some non-gen rubber is alot less durable.. and the clips are inferior too.. u dont wana b using cable ties either like sum cowboy back streets do :D!!

There are different inner boots for the Fabia. IIRC, the kit you need for the inner CV boot should end with 'D'.

6Q0 498 201 D That's the kit listed for the RS, But it bears no resemblance to what's fitted!

Is it a narrower cone-shape, and more plasticky than rubbery?

If so, I had just the same experience when changing an inner on my Mk2 Golf a year or so back. It fitted just fine though, and does the job.

Then you have right one. The 'newer' ones look more like the outers than the original, but they fit just fine.

My only concern then is, There's no mechanical securing device on the driveshaft side in the kit!

Missing part or is it held by tension?
