oily ic pipe, possible boost leak?

Featured Replies

My cars mpg has been a bit poor lately, and I have noticed a slight woosh noise coming just before coming on boost. Had a quick look under the bonnet and noticed one of the boosts pipes was pretty oily. Is this a possible boost leak, if so how do I go about repairing it?

2x cable ties either side of the joint then four or more spread evenly around the joint at 90 degree intervals

All tightened up and robert is your mothers brother

Or belt a couple of self tappers through the joint and epoxy over them ?

Mine were all quite oily when I removed mine. That does look a bit excessive though.

Get the elephant mod done :)

I was going to get some pipe tomorrow to do the elephant mod, will stop all that nasty oil getting into the ic!

Don't fancy the idea of putting self tappers into it, is there less of a 'bodge' way of fixing it?

new pipes, the lugs wear during periods of boost and not boost

v expensive though and they will wear too !

Had a feeling that was the case, I have been looking at a front mount to replace but a bit pricey darkside kit looks very good for the money?

mines similar to that, was advise by r tech after my remap to change the seals in the pipes

you could replace the boost pipes with silicone hoses from the likes of samco but its really costly. looks good and keeps it from ever leaking though!

Yer just read up on seals I will try and change them first, finding it hard to get the part numbers tho!

This link might help with part numbers

Nothing wrong with self tappers :)

Just buy a new pipe. The one that goes behind the light which is the one thats leaking by the looks of it, is 35 quid from tps.

You don't need the whole pipe again though when you can buy the seals for £2-£3 each.

The pipe appears to be in good condition so will try just changing the o rings, finding them hard to find tho!

Ring the dealer or try TPS?

Give them a message I'm sure they'll advise you correctly.

You might want to look at one of my recent posts here

Only been done just over a week ago but so far looks very promising.
