Milege question about a diesel Octavia

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Alas, the time has come for me to replace my Octavia 1.

I'm looking at an Octavia 2 2006 to 2008 Diesel.

It's been along time since I purchased a car and when I did they were all new so I'm wondering what is high milege on this type of model?

A lot I see are from 85k to 170k.

Is this normal and if I was to get an Ambiente with for about €7.5k with 110miles on it in the 07, would that be a good deal?

Also, would there be a good petrol alternative in the Octavia range. It's economy I'm looking at as I am based in Sth Kildare commuting.

Any help would be appreaciated.

Thanks

K

I have a 2006 2.0 Diesel DSG with 556,000kms on the clock. I would not be too concerned about the mileage figures on these cars once they are clean and well maintained (to schedule)

Nowhere near the above mileage, but I have 170k on a 55 plate.

It isn't the mileage that is the concern, it is how it has done that mileage and how it has been maintained.

My '07 PD140 estate did 84k miles in just under three years with the first owner and was maintained to Skoda service schedules including cam belt, clutch, etc.

I was told that it was motorway miles, but the amount of mud under the wheel arches and the damaged suspension bushes suggested that it might have been, but that the owner probably lived on a farm!

It's now on 126k miles, still serviced with Skoda and still going strong. I'm hoping to reach at least 200k before I feel the need to do anything radicle (like change it).
