after doing some searching on the forum cant really find a 110% definite answer.

looking to fit one myself to my 2007 VRS,

whats needed? what will fit?

i did see some people say the brackets cant hold the weight and they bend or damage the bonnet, true?

any problems with it?

I have them on a Golf, they go rusty so keep em greased or waxed. As for lifting the bonnet they do a grand job, not sure where they came from as they were on the car when I bought it.

None at all. I would recommend a reinforcing bracket on the bonnet though and there is still some flexing also the bottom 90 degree bracket needs to be strong. The ball studs are galvanised rather than stainless so the thread wasn't very strong and I stripped one over-tightening it. The Audi strut does the job perfectly.
