Turbo not quite as much oomph

Featured Replies

So I had a remap 3 weeks ago. I don't know if its in my head and I'm just used to it but it just doesn't seem to have as oomph as before. Looking to mr muscle the turbo and look at pipe work but any other ideas? Just doesn't seem to have the same "kick"

I'd put my money on a boost leak. what kind of remap did you get? if it increased boost levels it might have caused a leak in your pipes as the bungs wear down from excessive movement.

check your intercooler as well for a hole.

worse case scenario its your turbo thats giving up.

There's a whistle....I know it sounds odd. It's not a whine and mist definately a whistle but I can't seem to find a leak

I'd say it'll be related to the smoothness of the map. As standard the torque seems to come in one lump then die off.. With a map it tends to come in more progressively and hold the power a bit better. Tbh, I felt the same way when I had mine remapped the first time.

I know it was only 3 weeks but it just doesn't seem as.....punchy

Weird mine felt miles better once mapped

I don't know much about this kinda stuff but maybe its the warmer weather?

Where was it mapped?

Some are smoother than others and so feel slower, even if they are quicker and better for the car.

Need to get it checked for leaks though.

Difficult to comment as I've never heard of them.

Most people on here tend to swear by either Jabbasport or Shark.

That's not to say it's the map of course.

I just cleaned out a load of crud out of my egr and can't find any burst pipes

How secure are the connections?

When I first got my vRS, the pipes were connected, but they opened up slightly under load. Visually they looked fine apart from the oil seeping around the join.

How do I resolve that

I'd say it'll be related to the smoothness of the map. As standard the torque seems to come in one lump then die off.. With a map it tends to come in more progressively and hold the power a bit better. Tbh, I felt the same way when I had mine remapped the first time.

Have to agree with this.

I test drove a mapped vRS for a mate before he bought it and I was underwhelmed by it compared to my unmapped vRS.

That said, although it felt slower, I know it's not ;)
