Lights on my dash

Featured Replies

Sunday I fitted my coilovers and adjustable drop links and now I have the abs, tc and. Tpms lights on the dash, the tpms won't reset and the tc button is lit and won't turn on, can anyone shed any lights what this may be ? My gut instinct is either the abs sensor or the ring itself. Could I be right?

Probably one of the sensors, you to get the car scanned with VCDS to be sure.

Have you checked the wiring to the sensors is OK?

We never unplugged anything and have had a wiggle with all the wires, being scanned tomorrow night

A brake pipe wouldn't bring that up would it?

So, at a guess, if you didn't have to disconnect anything you separated the strut from the hub by whacking it with a hammer quite a few times, instead of taking the hub off with the strut and using a press?

If so, chances are it is a dodgy sensor or some metallic crud has worked its way on to the sensor ring. Did the lights come on straight away on starting the engine or only when you first drove the car?

We used a hammer at first to loosen the corrosion then used a scissor jack and 2 bits of wood to prise them apart, lights didn't go off on first start of the car

The sensor or wiring may have been damaged by use of the hammer which on a modern car and sensitive electronics can cause damage by not even hitting the area directly.

If it is the sensor, you'll need to establish which one(s) have failed and to do this you'll need to get the fault codes read with VCDS as it will tell you which sensor(s) have died.

How old is your car?

I just had the hub replaced last week. The sensor ring on the hub had corroded and a bit had broken off causing the same light to come on (plus my teves ESP went pop at the same time). Maybe some hammering has damaged a weakened sensor ring.

Car is a 06 plate petrol vrs

If the lights came on straight away and all the wiring is intact then my money is on a sensor.

You need a VCDS scan to tell you what is logging the fault code.

Checked it all last night and turns out its the abs wiring that's damaged

Easy fix or not?

If I replace the affected wire it's a 4+ hour job, spoke to an auto electrician and he is repairing it next week for beer money and shouldn't take more than an hour
