is my bite too high?

Featured Replies

hello every body. i have a question/possible problem, but not sure???

the biting piont on my vrs seems higher then it used to be. it's currently approximately half way up when it starts to bite then half again until full grip.

i can engage a gear whilst driving when the pedal is 2or 3 inches down. i dont have any clutch slippage that im aware off in any gear.

also just playing around today was in third gear doing about 30 mph comming up to faster speed limit i thought id give it abit of poke and dropped it into secound. it went but after a spilt second pause then off she went but was expecting wheel spin (non happened) i know before you all shout that you dont need to go down a gear, but thought this may have some relation to the possible clutch problem

Is it remapped?

It is advised by many skoda dealers (and dealers in general) not to remap the ECU without considering other modifications like uprated sparkers, cams, clutch etc. Otherwise you'll just burn them off with the extra power and heat generated.

Mil uprated sparkers in a diesel ? ;) Plus I am not sure different cams in a diesel will make alot of difference as it direct injection in a diesel so timing and fuel are taking care of by the injectors. Have to agree on the clutch, running considerably more power in a car means the clutch will not last as long if treated the same was as before.

Other possibility is that indeed the ASR was picking up on the wheelspin and reducing your engine output to prevent it. That said, on the demo I drove I managed to get some wheelspin with ASR on in 2nd so dunno.

ESP doesnt appear to interfere with my driving most of the time, unless it's coz I drove through a bit of an aquaplaning puddle ;)

Find a roundabout to play on (Private of course) then nail the throttle the car feels like it starts to drift then it stops drifting, a very weird sensation when I did it for the first time.

Hmm - will give it a shot :D
