any other reason water could be getting in my oil besides head and head gaskets?

hi guys

I have recently serviced my fabia x reg and have found water in the oil!!

when I first brought the fabia it was loosing a lot of water and over heating turns out the head gasket were gone. So my dad replaced the head gasket (2 weeks after i brought the car. I know i got fobbed off) but the head did not get skimmed and there were no cracks in it, but where the water and coolant had been sat in the head block it had eaten away and has pitted the head.

its been a year and a half and have had no problems with overheating or anything but noticed water in the oil yesterday so I think the head need skimming and gasket replacing.

For the last 6 months my car has been loosing a lot of water and recently I have had to fill it up once every 2 weeks.

I was just wondering if there was any other reason why water would be in my oil and what do you guys suggest I do?

my dad keeps saying the engine is buggered and I need a whole new engine, but the only thing wrong is the water in the oil. I don't want the problems or costs that go with replacing the engine its allot of work and expense I might as well buy a new car if its that bad.

But back to the point whats reccomended anyone else had this problem and what else could cause it.

I know this can occur if you use the car mostly for short journeys, but I would imagine you dad would have suggested that?

My first thought was of condensation in the cambox if the car's only used for short trips too.

There's a simple chemical test you can do for exhaust gas in the water if you suspect HGF.

That gunk is normal on 1.6.. 1.4 and 2.0 skoda/VW engines..

Tbh replacing the engine is less work than replacing the headgasket + getting it skimmed..

Which is probably why ur dad would rather do that ;):D

Could easily be a radiator leak and short runs, clean the cap and get the oil checked for coolant. It'd be a waste to swap an engine only to find it was something else.
