Heated rear window damaged

Featured Replies

hi, the other week i droped my drill against the rear windscreen and now there are 4 of the black lines that clear the condensation from the window not working.

i bought one off those electrical repair kits from my local spares shop, but the instructions are very vague, and are not sure how to use it.

The problem is i don't know where to apply it, because i cant see any brakes in the elements..? (even with a magnifying glass)

Has anyone else used one of these kits, and how did you use it, and did it work.???

Help please....

Are you still in warranty? If so tell them it just stopped working.

Are you sure that you caused the damage?

Best way to check for breaks is at night using a torch. Hold a torch on one side of the glass and look at the other for breaks. Alternatively use a continuity tester on each line, move the probes closer together until the break is found. Once you find it, a small blob of repair paint is all that is needed.

The heater elements are on the inside of the screen. Dropping something against the screen (presumably on the outside?) can not cause damage to the heating elements unless you have actually cracked the screen. In which case a new screen and cough up for the glass excess.

The silver loaded repair paint does work but it will not look very pretty.

You can get a neater looking repair if you mask carefully with tape the area that you are repairing.
