Featured Replies

I'm a noobie to this whole forum thing so thought i best say hello, so, hello. I have a Fabia VRS 04 plate but i'm thinking of selling it and getting an Octavia RS on a 01 / 02 plate. Anyone got any thoughts? Good idea / bad idea?

Depends what you need it for...........I went for an Octy cos I need the room (SWMBO + 2 rapidly growing sons :) ) I also (and this is a personal view) really liked the looks of the Octy first time I saw one :D Running costs wise, the Octy will cost more to insure and run (my worst was 17.9 mpg   , but that included driving like a lunatic round Knockhill...........trying to catch up with the Furby vRS's :o:o )

Hello right back at yer :) and welcome to the site. Lots of people with lots of info on here

I'd go for an Octy if you need the space - it's definitely got a FAR bigger boot. The PD 2 liter is very nice too & a little remapping would make it fairly fast whilst keeping economy in check.

vRS - not known for it's fuel economy but that wouldn't be the main reason for buying it imho.

Dunno if it would work out cheaper to get a PD + remap when you take into account extra insurance cost and handling side of things.

I'd give one a spin, there are a fair few Octys about now.

One thing I would say is that you will definitely want to get shot of the standard audio gear in it - unless the Octy vRS has significantly better ICE than the Classic I drove, as that was downright awful.

The Furby-boot will soon run out when you have 2 lads (better than 2 lassies though) + Mrs + your own luggage to contend with though.

I've done a bit of hunting around for remapping the Fabia VRS and just going for this instead of swapping to an Octy RS - afterall this would be the cheaper option i'm sure - i just like the look of the Octy, the big boot, and better suspension.

However, I've seen a few people quoting 190 bhp on the Fabia just from a re-map! Is this possible cos it's a massive increase from 130? If not what is the likely bhp increase from people like jabbasport? - oh, and the cost?

Any help is muchos muchos muchos appreciated.

It's definitely possible to get a load more power compared to standard.

Cost-wise - well 180 bhp is quite achievable without massive cost, 190 you'll need more doing to it for sure (if you want real bhp, that is ;))

Probably FMIC and so forth.

Have a look at the tuners' sites, AMD, Jabba, JBS, all to be found all over the place :)

The suspension of the Furby is ok, can do with improvement. Octy brakes are superiour, no doubt about that :)
