Shake rattle and roll.

Featured Replies

Hey guys.I took my Fabia vrs to my dealers yesterday to book in my 10000 mile service and to have a bit of a gripe.Dont get me wrong folks i love my car and so far the after sales from skoda has been good. However from day one there has been squeaks and rattles from the dash, the brakes make an awful grinding noise and the drivers seat's springs sound like they are burst.Recently the drivers door handle has come loose and so has the surround for the passenger fog light. When i spoke to the service manager yesterday he said that this is very unusual in the Fabia vrs and didnt seem all that keen on rectifying the situation despite coming out a drive with me to hear all this for his-self.Am i just unlucky in that i have a poorly put together car or are these common faults.Apart from all this i still love my Fabia especially when im shaming all the local neds whilst still only filling up once every week and a half. :)

Hmmm........ my 75k mile Octy is quiet as a mouse. Its strange how some cars are like yours though, squeeking for no aparent reason!

The only noise I have from my Fabia is a dodgy wheel bearing, but as it's going soon I'm not worrying about it.

My Fabia is nice and quiet too. I'm now immune to rattles though, after owning 2 Minis and a Renault...

The rattles in mine really get me down. Only the metallic sound in the drivers door now. If I wanted rattles I'd have bought a 182 ffs.

Ah well, my dealer (Vindis Cambridge) have been pretty pants tbh, but after the recent letter (copied to Skoda UK) they should get on and do a proper job!

My 51-plate has no rattle except from the dash. I have read on here of similar problems to yours, so i'm presuming the build quality has declined slight. :(

Mine doesn't really rattle that much the dash does abit but I think that is due to the strut brace more than it's build quality.

my car has an annoying vibration! whenever the music is on, the passanger door vibrates with the bass! Bass is set to 0

ho hum!

I've sorted all the rattles in mine out (by emptying the glove box!) bar the interior light plastic which can vibrate occasionally. Only other sound in the car is a squeal at high speeds and round fast corners, but I think I've narrowed that down to the person sat in the passenger seat :D

I had this, it was only when i was outside the car that i noticed it wasnt the door but the mirror on the passenger door i messed around and it went away.

May be completley unrelated but worth a go

May give that a go myself. Gave both doors a good going-over a few months back, but am now getting an annoying rattling / cracking sound. Could be that the can of pop that SWMBO spilled all over the inside of the passenger door has f**ked the speaker cone, however...

I dont think the mirror made a crackling sound!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Was just wondering, have any of you guys owned a car that was completly noiseless.. I haven't.. although the best one so far was my previous car, the peugeot 406 turbo.. it was very comfortable and quiet car and even it had some occasional noises, I guess with the 406 I heard noises that I couldn't even hear in my polo because of the excess road noise  .. anyway I've had much more fun with my polo.. I guess ultimately I like noisy little cars more than big quiet ones since they're way too boring.. ah well, maybe when I'm older :D

I think it is easy to get paranoid about the odd squeak or rattle, personally it is one of my pet hates in a car and was dissapointed when my vrs started to sqeak and have the occasional rattle after only a couple of thousand miles but I felt a little relieved when i had a lift in a colleagues honda accord, this was worse, and i was expecting zero noise..

Ive got two annoying rattles on mine one is the rear seat passenger side and the other is the front seems to go when I push glove box in? Took it back to the dealers and they said all sorted, drove off and as if by magic they both reappeared. Best car I have was my old focus which was pretty rattle free worst was probably my old scoob so I stuck a massive exhaust on it and I couldnt hear any of them or even the radio.

Had a rattle in the front passenger side door, which appeared to have been rectified by the dealer when I took it in for servicing ......however, last couple of weeks it seems to be making a comeback!

Had a rattle from the passeger door and drivers door which i fixed with a bit of foam and also a rattle form the rear head rests - fixed with foam.

Car is now nice and quiet. :)

I've read from a lot of forums where people with much more expensive cars (audi for example) complain about rattles and whistling windows etc. :D Most of the time the it's better to fix the problem yourself if it's something minor like rattles etc. as visiting the dealer is very time consuming and they don't really seem to bother to fix little quirks like that.. I'd just rather keep driving the car and turn the stereo louder
