Light(s) in boot?

Featured Replies

Noticed that Configurator that works after a fashion now mentions Lights in boot in the standard equipment.

Does this mean they have added one or another sloppy use of English?

AFAIK, on SE spec and above, there's one light in the boot. It is quite poor though and is in the left hand sidewall so of you have stuff piled up there it's not much use at all.

Quite a few of us have fitted these...

Which is a single light to replace just the OE one

Very bright and much better

Or these...

Which is a pair of the same unit.

Even better.

Although I haven't fitted the pair, I believe it's a reasonably easy job?

A search on here should give you more info.

After dithering for ages, I fitted the SuperSkoda one, and the difference is astounding. Not cheap to buy, but takes just seconds to fit and well worth the money.

Alternatively, buy an LED car inspection lamp from Aldi for £9.99 & tie it to one of the side rails in the boot. Cheap, handy, & very bright, but needs charging periodically & not pretty!

Sloppy English then.

Must be pence for Skoda to address if they could be bothered.

The boot light is a generic VAG item. I seen it in everything from Seats to Audi's.

They are fitting what they are given. It is not something that SUK can be blamed for.

I have no doubt that eventually they will all get an LED version.

Interesting that the Superskoda LED one comes in a box marked with Audi rings & Lamborghini name!

Perhaps they have now started fitting them then, John.

Certainly the Seat one of the other siggies has got has the same light, as did the Tiguan I had when mine was in the bodyshop.

Hmmm. I did wonder if that was the case Graham, it's certainly pricey enough. The standard light appears throughout the VAG range*, even the new CitiGo that I borrowed the other week. I wonder if it's carried forward to the latest Octavia?

* Well perhaps not the entire range... I cant see a need for it on a Ducati! And I bet Bentley have a bespoke one!
