Just proves it pays to shop around and research for VAG spares...

Featured Replies

I needed a new flap actuator for my 2.0T FSI. Naturally I called my local Skoda dealer who informed me that it would take around 3 days to get one at a cost of £178 inc VAT, I then tried my local VW dealer who came up with the same price.

Then a friend in the trade showed me this website - http://www.findpart.org/ - this can cross reference any manufacturer part number from any make/model of car and tell you other parts identical in different manufacturers.

For this actuator I managed to get the part number for the manufacturer - VDO - a quick google search gave me the manufacturers UK distributors. They cross referenced again for me and confirmed it was the correct part and within 2 working days of ordering its drops on my desk having being delivered direct from Germany for the sum of £127.34 inc VAT and delivery!

Just proves half hours research and phone call can save you a nice chunk of money! - and also how much we are getting ripped of by the VAG group for spares as they will pay nowhere near what I paid for it when they buy in bulk!
