Rebuilding brake calipers - any recommendations?

Featured Replies

I've decided that with my new power, I really need to do a health check / overhaul on my current brakes (Brembo GT 4 potters with 323mm discs).

The brakes work fine and withheld the short session at Castle Combe, so they're certainly not siezed nor broken.

But I'd be reassured if they were fully stripped, cleaned, had new seals put in, etc. The last time I changed the pads, they were starting to look a bit tatty...

So can anyone recommend a brake specialist? I've done a quick search on the net and have found a few - would appreciate any personal experience or recommendations.

Thanks :)

It's about £500 for a proper brembo caliper overhaul kit, are you sure you want to spend that sort of money on something that doesn't need doing yet?

You can do it yourself bud as all the bits can be purchased from here http://www.porschecalipers.co.uk/uk/index.html

I've got a set coming in the coming weeks and going to change seals and dust covers and clean pistons and regrease myself and get them sprayed at work before fitting not a hard job

Ouch! Just found that a set of seals for the Brembo calipers can be bought for around £48 each so nearly £100 for the front axle. Part number 1ML 698 471

edit: great video from a chap rebuilding a single pot Mazda caliper:

edit 2: cheaper on ebay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SEAT-LEON-TURBO-1-8-20V-CUPRA-R-BREMBO-4-POT-FRONT-CALIPER-REPAIR-KIT-BCK4021A-/230964528614?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&fits=Car+Make%3ASeat|Model%3ALeon&hash=item35c68f05e6
