vrs - standard spring / shock life?

Featured Replies

Wondering whether to refresh the springs and shocks. Car doesn't feel great (vague handling) and nothing obviously wrong with other suspension components. Have superpro console bushes.

Also wondering whether to refresh rear beam bushings?

Car is 05 plate on 88k.

My mates 05 plate snapped a front spring at 77k!

I replaced springs but the front dampers had zero life left in them

About 100k IMO. I wouldn't change it unless its broken though. if you really want a change keep an eye out for some low mileage ones on eBay or similar.

mmm - car feels awful TBH. Anyone know the cost of standard shocks and springs all round?

about £150 for springs and dampers only

check prices on skodaparts.com

I would say the dampers are worn and out of tollerance at about 50k

100k no way - they will be toatlly fkd at that.

Springs I think are more on or off. They seem to either snap or be ok.

buy a second hand set.

loads come up in the classifieds here when people take the OEM set up off to put coil overs on.

I bought a set off a 60k car to replace the knackered ones on my 120k car for about £50

My car is on 140k and it has genuine shocks. Not saying they are original but I would guess they are.
