2011 VRS - All Windows gone down when locked up

Featured Replies

Anyone had this problem before?

Locked my 2011 VRS up this morning in a Tube Station car park to go to work - all was normal - came back to the car this evening to find ALL the windows had wound down.......

Fortunately, it didn't look like anyone had gone pilfering inside (probably as it was in an area that few people pass during the day) but I'm obviously a bit worried now if it happens again.......

Is this a known problem?

Done a search for "windows dropping" on here, but not seen anything that matches this...........

Any advice?

Thanks.

What did you do with your keys as you walked away ? They can all drop when OPEN is held for a period of time... Once out of range if door not opened car will auto lock in a few minutes.

Did as I usually do - once locked the keys went straight into my pocket as I walk to the Station entrance - can't see how any part of the key can be touched, let alone held in the pocket....

I've heard of the same thing happening to Golf's in the past, so as Skoda is part of that, I'm guessing it's a known problem....... may be wrong on that but my (fading) memory seems to remember this on the VW cars.

Someone could have done the "trick" the to activate convenience window opening.

One thing worth disabling in vcds (I can close but not open). Most new cars come with this disabled by default now

A good tip about disabling the feature, Simon. I will follow up that up.

Just found this on Honest John's Website:

Appears this is a VERY common fault............ lots and lots of VAG Group owners have the same problem................ His answer is "more likely to be because of moisture ingress to the locking and windows ECU that sits on top of the window motor inside the driver's door. This had been a weakness of the VAG locking system for at least 15 years".

So - as long as it doesn't rain :rain: , or get any water/dew on my drivers door I will be OK!

Not impressed if they have had this problem for so long and STILL haven't got it sorted :@

It's normal they go up but not down.

I wouldn't worry about it, providing it doesn't do it again

It probably is to do with the remote and not the door module

Agree with Eddie-NL, you have most likely caught the open button in your pocket somehow whilst walking away from the car and triggered the convenience opening. Its happened to me a few times on various VAG cars over the years and on my 2013 vRS so made a point of disabling it in the Maxidot and hasnt happened since. Personally I think the comfort closing is the only part thats really useful anyway.

This happened to me a few months ago,as it was a one off & it hasnt done it since i put it down to me pressing the button for to long as i was carrying some bags as i locked my car.I did keep checking the windows had not gone down after id locked it for a few weeks after though!

Another one that has had the same issue - I usually put my keys in my pocket when I'm not at home. We had gone away overnight, left the car in the B&B car-park and the following morning went back to it to find the windows half open. Thankfully it had been raining as well so I had the added benefit of damp seats to remind me of this "feature" of the remote!

How long were you in the station, and how far from car? Maybe squashed the keyfob whilst sat down??

It happened to me once with my 2010 vrs, luckily on the staff car park on a dry day. I was paranoid about it happening again for the next few weeks but luckily it didn't reoccur. I've disabled convenience windows on the new Octy 3 as I've never used the function on any of my previous cars.

From the car to the Station is about a 2 min walk, uphill most of the way - Entrance must be a good 100-150 yards from the Car Park and even then it's round a corner, so no chance it was the fob IMHO...

Tried to hold the remote "lock" button down tonight for 5 seconds just to see what happened - nothing, then did it on the "open" button for 5 seconds - nothing - no windows going down or up, so I'm guessing that facility is disabled by default (which is how I would want it anyway given a choice).......... so it looking more and more that it's the locking and window ECU that's caused this........

If it happens again I will take it into the Dealer and see what they can do (don't have Maxidot, so no way to do anything like that myself - even if I knew what to do)...

Happened with my Skoda (late 2009 Superb) yesterday. Usually keep it in my garage, but on visiting a friend and parking outside his house, I remotely locked the wagon (with windows up). Much later, after some amber nectar and with my mind in neutral, I thought that I hadn't locked, so I pressed lock on the fob from a distance of about 10 mtr (33 feet in old money). Much, much later I had to visit my wagon and found all windows down. 'Twas a dry day, so no harm, but dread the thought of it happening in a less secure area.

Remote unlock when held down on my 11 vRS opens all windows. And I don't have maxidot to edit settings, so it must be enabled by default???

It happened to me once, about 2 years ago. The car was in our carport and when I came out in the morning, all the windows were fully open. It's never happened since.

Yup but can be disabled using vcds if you want to.
