Hi,

I posted a while back about modding my Sport, and today was supposed to be the big day when the new 312mm brakes went on. I'd sourced the new caliper carriers from the 'Bay for a very reasonable £50 along with new EBC discs and pads.

Imagine my absolute horror whem my tame grease monkey rang to say that the calliper carriers were wrong. I went down to see for myself, and he's right.

Now, I was very, very careful when I bought the carriers, and thought that these were the right units http://www.ebay.co.u...cvip=true&rt=nc but it seems they aren't.

This is the 'new' red carrier compared to the ones currently on the car:

The holes for mounting onto the hub are just in totally the wrong place, and now I've no idea what I actually bought. Can anyone confirm the correct part no, and somewhere reliable to buy them from ?

They could be from a car that doesn't have the 5 * 112 PCD.

They carriers for the MK4 Golf based platform and MK 5+ Golf based platform are different.

Out of interest, you do know you don't need the (badly painted) callipers in that advert and just the carriers.

You can source them from TPS/Dealers, but to be honest if you want your car on the road, then I'd just get the garage to get some from a scrap yard or TPS for you and fit them.

Cheers - I knew it was just the carriers I needed, but at the price I bought them for, I was happy to take the callipers too. Having looked around, I think that the ones I've got are maybe for the Mk4 platform. Just seen some 312mm carriers and callipers from a Golf Mk5 GTi for £130, so I've bought them and fingers crossed they fit !

Anyone want a set of badly painted 312mm callipers and carriers for a Mk4 GTi ?
