Clutch and flywheel 1.9tdi se estate

Featured Replies

Hi guys, I'm running an 09 octavia estate 1.9pd se, just bought it second hand with 70000 miles on her. Looking at the service history it alls looks great, just had timing belt changed and to be honest the car is running great. My question is this as everywhere I look its clutch and flywheel failure, dual mass for single etc etc. So would I have had the clutch and flywheel already replaced and it just not wrote down on service record? How would I know if the clutch and flywheel had been changed? Is there any tell tell signs? And if not already been done when should I expect it to go or get it done? Like should I just get it done next year when she will be on 80k miles and in for her service? Long winded post so apologies in advance!

If it's working don't fix it!

There's a good chance that it is still on it's original clutch and flywheel......the flywheels fail at all sorts of mileages as it really dependent on how it's been driven. If it's not showing signs of flywheel wear then forget about it and enjoy the car!

Cool, thanks for reply. This is my first skoda, and never since driving from 92 have I had a car long enough or needed to ever change a clutch and flywheel, had conpany cars and old bangors only so although not so green to cars but Defo green when it comes to skodas and flywheels!! Appreciate your advice, would not have a clue about how to detect a flywheel problem. Many thanks.

Mine is on 94k on original clutch and DMF and thus far no slippage or excessive vibration has been noted. If its been driven well then you could get a few years yet.

Should i be concerned , 8 years on and 160k miles in my pd130 and its the original kit still , must say most is motorway 100 mile round trip to work each day .oh and the original exhaust , but yes i did have to change the discs and pads al round early last year .and the front wheel bearings early this year . 2 cambelt changes next due in 2ok miles And in this warmer wheather i got 61 mpg 1 day ..normal average over the winter months , as there was no spring, i was averaging 54 mpg The only major change to my routine over the last 2 years is to start changing the oil every 10k miles but still with the long life stuff .
