where is the oil filter?

Featured Replies

needing to do an oil change, i have bought all the stuff to do it but would like to find where the oil filter is first before i start removing things lol could anyone tell me where it is???????

Take the engine cover off......the oil filter housing is then visible right on the front of the engine.

Looks like a black cylinder kind of thing, has a plastic nut on it 32mm.

if i take the plastic top off that has the 32mm nut on it, does the filter sit inside????

Yes. It just pulls out. Make sure you refit the top and bottom seal when you fit the new filter.

Tip, buy a 32mm socket to remove it or you may destroy the plastic head. Also refit it to the correct torques, or you may destroy it, too.

bottom seal??? oh dear didnt see a bottom seal

little o ring on the bottom of the shaft.

There are replaceable o-rings in the filter housing, which should come with the new filter.

BTW, this pic, taken from the thread I linked to has a much clearer view of the filter.

It's the black cover with hex head, to the right of the dipstick.

Dude, if you don't know where it is, get somebody else to do it! ;) Seriously though, the filter is next to the oil you bought. Probably in your hall way. Next to the pair of shoes that "I really must clean" that never get done. Oh come on, we all have them.
