THREE Punctures in Six Months!

Featured Replies

In December I noticed a screw sticking out of one of the front wheels. :( Cost to repair £20.

Two weeks later, my TPM indicated one of the back tyres was low in pressure. You guessed it, another screw in the tread. :wall: . Cost to repair £20.

This week, after changing over from my winter tyres, I noticed a screw in one of the front tyres. :@

Cost to repair £23.

To compound matters, when the guy was typing up the bill he asked me if it was an Audi A6 or A4!!!

I've never been so insulted in my life! :giggle:

That is very unlucky. I've not had a single puncture in 16 years. Are you sure you're not being targeted by a neighbour or similar?

I cannot rule that out, however, the car is kept on the drive quite a distance from the road, and is also covered by CCTV and security lights.

It may just be, I AM that unlucky!!

I'm unlucky too. Once I got a new tyre through a puncture and got a puncture on the way home from the garage in the 2mile old tyre.

One of your neighbors is a kitchen installer and has a leaky white van.

Or your local tyre fitters are paying local yoofs to stick screws in tyres.

Or you work in a screw factory.

My only two punctures in all my driving years have been caused by an irate sailor at my sailing club (I still have no idea why - maybe I ****ed him off somehow) and my ex-GF when she was liberally sprinkling upholstery tacks everywhere she could (don't drink and re-upholster).

annoying, but no too bad given that they all were repairable.

i had 3 windscreens in a 6 month period.. try explaining that one to your boss!

  • 1 year later...

January 2014 - pothole - side wall rupture (front NS) - replaced both fronts as OEM conti's half worn anyway and wanted some PS3's (£125 each).

July 2014 - self tapping screw in tread (rear OS) but too close to shoulder radius for repair. Used matching  'spare' undamaged Conti left over from January incident. (£15 to fit tyre)

October 2014 - self tapping screw in tread (front NS - again!) but too close to shoulder for repair. Another new PS3 (£116) to replace puntured one (only seen 6k miles.... :swear: )

Never had a puncture or tyre damaged in 7 years on my Fabia vRS, now three in 10 months. Catching up I suppose.

Must avoid local council amenity tip, or go in someone else's car. Both the screw punctures were noticed within 48hrs of a trip to the tip.
