I sent off my photo card license with paper counterpart a few years back to update the photo on the card. I don't recall getting the paper version back because as I remember they were phasing them out?

The mrs is going mad at the moment trying to find the paper part of the license (we're sorting out the filing!) because I've not got one.... But I don't think it exists!

Question is.. Do they? And am I a muppet whose lost the paper counterpart!

I have processed UK driving licences in the last few days that were produced within last 2 months that had both parts still. I have heard about this phasing out but not really looked into it properly yet. I think I read 2015 somewhere not sure though. You can get a replacement licence if no other details have changed for £20 from DVLA can be ordered by phone prob online now too. Would be better to have both parts in case for example you were required to produce your documents by the Police within 7 days, just becomes a panic then if something is missing.

Bugger! Best get looking then!

Yeah still have both parts

Just renewed my licence and got paper and plastic back last week.

The plastic card is not normally accepted without the paper part as it's the bit that has your offences recorded on it.
