I have a 1999 Octavia SDI. Whilst changing gear today clutch pedal went to floor. I managed to pull the pedal back up, but it is solid now and wont depress. I contacted RAC who attended and said that the clutch had gone. No symptoms prior to this incident of clutch slipping etc. I had clutch replaced 4 years ago and have done 30000 miles since. I have read previous posts re pedal linkages and clips breaking but this does not appear to have happened. Could it be something internally in the clutch that has gone.

Might be of use, common fault as you said or could be the cylinder.
