Hello/ I've been having this problem with my 1.9 tdi. Elegance.

When I go to turn the key the electrics goes on and all the symbols lights up and goes off as usual and I can hear the car priming. But then when I turn the key to start all I get is a single click. And the car does not crank over. To start the car I usually turn the key from left to right loads of time and eventually it starts. Its really weird as this does not happen all the time and sometime it will happen after I've driven the car for a while then when I get out and get back in it happens.

Any ideas?

I had this with my leon. It was a broken wire at the starter
