07 VRS TDI not starting?

Featured Replies

came out after work the other day and the car would not start at all,

turned over just fine but just would not fire into life.

after 10-15mins of trying the low oil presure came up on the Maxi dot and i gave up and got it recovered to the garage where after 5 mins of cranking it started :wonder:

full tank of fuel

oil levers are fine

all the readings from Vagcom were all fine

liftpump etc all fine

at the time i had my laptop and VCDS and scanned it but no faulty codes were stored and mr AA man did the same with the same results

the car was recenlty serviced less then 200 miles ago and it was driving faultlessly when i drove it work and is driving fine now as i type.

any ideas on what could of casued it?

Is there any fuel around ur filter?

i get the same, sometimes will start first turn of the key, some 2-3 seconds later or not at all lol

Is the Battery marginal and so not always hitting the required revs to start ?

Is it still on the original Battery ?

I had something similar a few weeks ago on my car, same as yours. Went back to start the car while out shopping. Turned the key, waited for the glow plug light to go out, and tried to start the car. Wouldn't start. Engine was turning over, but wouldn't start. I flicked the key and tried again, cranking it for about 10 seconds until the oil pressure light came on. F*ck I was thinking. This is bad. Only had the car serviced a week before. Checked my oil and any other fluids I could think of, all fine. I was dreading it being some oil pump issue, but I thought it was my glow plug harness. I've been clearing errors P0671-0674. Already changed the plugs, but thought the harness might need a look.

Rang father in law to pick up wife from car, and sent her home after trying a quick jump start from his car. Just did it to humour him tbh.

Rang AA as I just got their roadside assistance. Nice man with a van came out and did some tests. Battery was fairly far down, but should have been enough to start the car. We connected his battery pack, and cranked the starter for at least 20 seconds, and it started. Delighted. 1 new battery and the car is fine now. Mine was the original battery.
