No, not sorted yet, waiting for some info on this. All the parts are expensive, so want to get right bits.

Any help would be great

Steering angle sensor, you don't mention the age of the car, but it's is a common fault and WIDELY posted about here.

It says 51 plate at top of post,

I have looked at a load of posts about this, a lot say battery, a lot say sensor and a few say pump.

What do I go for ?????

Thanks anyway

So it does, start with the most likely i.e. the sensor. We cannot diagnose your car by ze miracle of ze interwebs, you'll have to get your hands dirty!

Actually we can get pretty close.

Check the flat fuses on top of the battery, check the earth lead to the battery (both ends), check the PAS fluid level (probably need to remove the battery/box), you could also check the voltage at the pump and listen to see if its kicking in/out when you loose PAS and the lights/dash lights dim/flicker significantly (easier in the dark). Then take a look at the have a look at the angle sensor (look in technical guides section for guide) if it's the old style call the dealer with the reg/vin, I recommend Rainworth as the parts prices are the lowest I've found at retail, remember you get a rebate for the old part so don't cut it out. Swapping the sensor is easy but fiddly, you can do it on ramps/stands but it's easier if you have access to a pit or a lift. Failing that any back street garage should have it done in 30 minutes.
