Are these tuning boxes any cop?

Featured Replies

On the surface it looks good, if your interested then ask them for evidence of ACTUAL cars with the CR170 engine in they have fitted their unit to, and the performance gains will be then proven.

Also ask them for a copy of the fitting instructions - this will tell you which sensors they plug into a what data they modify.

Before buying my CRD-t from DTUK I did contact about 3 other companies about their boxes and when asked, not ONE of them could provide me of any evidence of the horse power / torque gains of their product. One even said "you will have to trust us"

DTUK provided clear evidence of multiple cars that had be rollered and the gains were there in black and white, they also provide fitting instructions on the website so you can see everything before you buy.

If the product you linked to is as good as they say it is then I'm sure they must have tried it out at some point? I can sell you a tuning box that takes the power of your 170 up to 300bhp if you don't ask me to prove it.......... :-D

I looked at this one as well, The unit looks OK, but I'm not convinced by the company. I asked them about how these boxes connect on a VRS 2.0 CR and got an email back to say 'their technical expert would get back to me' - which never happened.

I went with a DTS box in the end. Dead simple to fit via CR connector only and seems pretty good so far. I decided against units that also connect to the turbo boost sensor as this is such a bugger to get to and I want to be able to remove and refit the box quickly and easily when the car goes in for a service.
