VRS Engine Rebuild Kit

Featured Replies

Remap is a must, it just totally transforms performance, & the driving experience. Revo or Shark would be my advice.

Sounds silly this!

No need on 110k

As others have said

Sump off and replace pick up pipe! Change out any old rubber hoses for silicone ones!

Think this should give you a bit of piece of mind. A 1.8T Jetta in america has clocked up 500k.

Internals are still within factory spec, so with your engine being at that sort of mileage, I would say rebuilding it is a complete waste of money. Spend it on fixing the other bits that break - Suspension, bushes, electrics etc.

Keep the cash in the bank, if something goes pop fix it.

Or just do what I did after buying mine back, A good service, cam belt, water pump & tension-er. Also, maybe oil pickup.

...................but sit back and keep enjoying her.

Immense engines, hence why I bought a different car with the same engine lol

+1 with what other have said buddy.

First get compression done as it is all theory till then

Based on findings let us folks know and we make sure you get good advise.

As these engine are pretty bullet proof chances are that turbo has given up and with a new or genuine reconditioned one with a sump pick up pipe change and oil change you will be back in business and enjoying few more years of good motoring.

I have had mine 7 years now and still love it,

just knocked up 148000 mls and still going strong and with a stage 2 map

Only expense is me messing / modding and changing .

Hardest thing with owing a vrs is not slipping up and letting the mrs find out what you're upto lol

Too late for that one buddy..

I am not good at lying and mrs always finds receipts  ...

Being tested as we speak, will find out what state she is in about lunch time.

All being well i think i may have a play with some mods.

Stage 1 map (anyone used angeltuning)

Coilovers (which brand at a good price)

Silicone breather and turbo pipes thinking creations motorsport stuff (or can i buy the full lot in a kit)

Rear anti sway bar (which one - whitelin?)

Anything else you guys would recomend?

With regards to a map stick to recommended places:

Well guys, the results are in. I will hold my hands up, i was panicking over nothing, well not nothing, need the turbo done, i know, i know you all told me. Haha

Don't know what the figures were but he told me that wet and dry it was spot on, a lot better than you normally find on an engine of its mileage.

So the turbo is being done in the next couple of weeks along with the pick up and gear box oil change.

So i have been looking at mods, the map puts my insurance up by £400. Any mods i can do that wont batter the insurance. IM with esure if that helps.

wait for it.......................
