VRS 1.8T DMF - SMF and VR6 clutch CONVERSION should I?.... Opions please

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I have been reading on replacing the DMF for g60 SMF and vr6 clutch assembly. my questions are what do people think about this? I dont want to get to the clutch change and realise i need a new DMF AT £400 a pop!? Is this conversion worth it are there any running issues, vibrations, loss of troque? etc etc

opinions greatly welcomed! also if it is a good option... where should i source the parts ??

thanks

DO IT, DO IT, DO IT

Simples

Feels like a normal clutch and drives like a normal clutch. No weird noises on mine.

You wont get a loss of torque once it isn't slipping. It's a lot lighter so the engine revs a bit more freely but again I've not noticed any massive difference with it.

I just like knowing that the solid lump of cast iron isn't going to fall apart on it's own

I want to just want to know if there are any issues? I have seen a few kits on eBay dark side developments etc?

Any thoughts?

Thanks guys

I've had 2 of these conversions and both rattle.

Always leave my foot on the clutch when not moving.

Were they standard flywheels or were they further lightened? Were they both on petrol cars?

Yea both standard smf and both on Octy vrs.

Best mod I've ever done my opinion is to do it :)

How does the clutch feel differ with a SMF conversion?

It feels better under foot and when changing Gear It also feels more responsive when accelerating all round winner in my opinion :)
