A full week of ownership now.

Featured Replies

Well, I've had a week now to contemplate what I think about the thing that I have just spent the most money on in my life (apart from the failed relationships!!!) and I am very happy.

I've used it for work and to take the family out, so there's been just me in the car and also a full compliment in various traffic conditions

.

The maxidot, stereo, bluetooth and air con have all been very easy to use and worked exactly the way they should work. The only times I thought that they didn't work correctly was when I was operating them incorrectly! The nearside wing mirror parking function is great and that combined with the Parking Distance Control and Optical Parking Sysytem has had me trying to park in all kinds of wierd spaces, but again, all have been great.

The two foot rests are good news. I think most cars have one for your left foot, but this is the first I've had with one for your right foot, and again, a great idea because the cruise control is so easy to operate, I've been driving everywhere using it. Smooth acceleration to whatever speed you set it without going mad, however when set to 70 or 80 mph it accelerates briskly but withouth the kind of "kick down" effect that some do. It will reduce down to about 15mph, so it's also been wuite nice in heavier traffic.

That combined with the electric 3 memory seats, adjustable wheel and armrest have made driving this car by far the most comfortable I've had by a long long way.

The car feels very roomy inside and light. The kids have got loads of space in the back, although the Recaro Start 2.0 takes up a bit more than 1 seat width so getting all three in the back is a bit squashed, but it is a big car seat no doubt and it's fine with two in or no car seat.

The boot has been brilliant. I only found out about the netting system after I bought it and it is perfect for the gear I carry around with me in the boot, holds it dow but it's easy to slip in and out without any hassle, it's a great idea. And I notice in the handbook that the floor can be connected to the parcel shelf to lift up and give more space.

The DSG is superb. You can hardly feel it change up or down, even coming to a stop. I love the way the rev counter needle drops so quick when changing up, looks really cool, and the tiptronic side of the box is nice to use with it's clicky action. The S mode is good and the car can really shift when it needs to. My polo was struggling after 100 mph to get to 110 but this flys past. I know you don't so i very often, but nice to know you can!!!!

Was going to change the Bolero, but glad I didn't. The sat nav on the phone works great through the audio. The google maps sat nav cuts the music to talk, the M8 sat nav just talks over the music, so no need for a sat nav. And I thought I wanted a reversing camera until I saw the OPS.

If I really had to try very hard to find a fault so far, it would be that the speedo is in even 10's, why not go 10, 30, 50, 70 mph, the BT on the maxidot always shows so I have to press the back button to get to the MFD data, but maybe I have a setting wrong there, and then finally (how bad is this!!) maybe the climate control should go up in half degree increments!! But that really is just looking for an excuse to fault it now!! Otherwise, just amazing. I can't believe the Skoda garage is 500 yards from my house and I've been looking for another car for a year, but never looked there... just shows!!

Enjoy the brand! )))

Sorry Jim, I can't see which one you've got as I'm on my daftfone though whichever it is it obviously ticks all your boxes. Enjoy your octy and revel in the fact that more have paid more for less!
