Electronic Boot release

Featured Replies

Today while struggling with my car key, bag and drink I found after holding the boot unlock for a second or two it opened the boot!

not just unlocked but actually opened

Just thought i would share it as I found this after owning the car for 9 months! :giggle:

:D I did not know that...

Have you tried it?

just ran down to try. Did not seem to work for me, though.

It flashdes the lights and the mechanism makes a little noise but it doesn't open.

hmm if you press it it will unlock the boot only, if you hold it down for a few seconds, maybe a bit longer than two, it opens mine!

Nope unlocks and pops but you still have to press the button on the boot.

Ours unlocks and pops open slightly. You then just lift the tailgate to open - no need to press the button on the tailgate. (If this is what was meant) ??

I guess those 'springs' that hold the door will need to be a lot more powerful. When I lift up the door, it needs to get half way before it continues on without help.

Taylor93 - when was your's built?

Hmmm mine doesn't release unless you push the button I.e. if you go to open the catch stops it so will only open a bit.

^ This is what happens with mine!

Thats exactly what i meant, please forgive any confusion i have caused!

OK. I still need to press the button on the tailgate - even when having held down the key button for a long time.

I thought you ment it opened up on its own without having to lift it :)

sorry! :giggle:

With mine i hold the boot unlock and as Feebet said, it pops open then you jsut need to open the tail gate, saves pressing the button on the boot with two hands full

same as on all the skoda's I've had, Octavia mk1, fabia mk1 vrs, roomster and current GL II

first thing I do when I get a new car is read the manual front to back (I know i'm sad) then go play with all the things to see if they actually work on my car and if they are usefull

yeah its the same on mine. on my last 2 cars, Y reg polo gti and mkii fabia vrs, if you held down the unlock button for about 3 seconds it would bring the windows down as well as holding the lock button would bring them back up! haven't tried it on the citigo yet though!

Auto window up/down does not work on Citigo. Another thread mentione there is not the same type of controler used. Would be nice if it could.

sorry! :giggle:

You have to be quick though. Tried it on mine, hold button for around 2 secs on the fob until the unlock action sound then immediately open the hatch, without pressing the button on the handle. If you delay more than say 1-2 secs you will need to press the button as well to open. That's how it works on mine.

Exactly works as you say, but on the other hand boot is not that heavy, if we can fit some springs to the mechanism, it may open all the way up, like Superb, I guess. But on the other hand, this is kinda dangerous for people nearby, also height of the boot is a concern.

I want similar on the bonnet and then with strong spring to give next doors moggy a surprise next time it decides to leave paw prints all over my clean car

This might inspire you

yep sort of thing I am looking for, but only to give it a nasty surprise so it gets the idea not to come back not kill the poor thing

something like some washer jets pointing forward might work :)

Seriously if you are looking for a cat scarer I have one of these on my front garden

http://www.amazon.co...rds=cat scarers

It works a treat. I bought it to deter the cats from fouling on my garden, it used to be horrendous, everyday I was out there cleaning it up. I have never seen a cat for weeks in or around my garden, purrrrfect
