Does my VRS have an oil drip tray

Featured Replies

Just about to book my car in for an Oil change and was advised is my vehicle has a drip tray then its an extra £12.00 for the oil change to remove the tray?

Anyone heard of that before, it is National though.

Well it does have an undertray but it's not an oil drip tray as such.

£12 for a extra 10 mins work to remove & re-fit the undertray!....robbing sods.....mind you i wouldnt let any car of mine anywhere near a fast fit place for a oil change. When i removed mine it was held on by 10 or so screws, was easy to remove once up in the air.Im sure all vrs's have them fitted, its easy enough to check if you look under the front of the car.It will have to be removed to get to the oil filter(if its a petrol vrs) & makre sure they replace the sump plug at the same time, mine cost pennies from andrew pages when i bought my oil & filter.

When they say tray, do they mean that plastic cover with 10 nuts that covers the underneath of the engine?

FFS 2 minute job

That the one! i did mine myself, was in december last year & im at work so cant check prices i paid for oil & fliter & sump plug. What area are you in(will help if anybody knows a garage near to you).

I'd worry more that they fasten it back up again, my local dealer put it back in place but didn't put any screws back in, it decided to detatch it's self while making steady progress. I had to call the RAC out to remove it from my back wheels

How much are they quoting for the oil and filter change?

It should be worth noting that a Skoda main dealer charges £129 inc. VAT for a fixed service, and you get a stamp in the book.

I'm sure that includes removing the dipstick too, do National charge extra for this also!?

Mate have a go at doing it yourself its easy and cheaper!! :-D

yeah dont even know what i was thinking, we have a MV block attached toy our building there gonna do it at cost.

I paid £31 all in for my oil, filter & sump plug in december & changed it myself. :D

National will do an oil and filter change for under £ 40. This includes 507 oil and a unipart filter. Thats pretty much cost price. I checked and it is a drop oil not suck it out but they don't replace the sump plug (so take your own).
