Toying with the idea of a Touran

Featured Replies

It'll be a used one, likely 2010/11. Just wondering what must have spec/options to look out for beyond the usual (highline display, phone, parking sensors, xenons)

Are they all 7 seat? Is it cramped in 7 seat config?

Will be looking at a DSG derv. What's the best engine? Issues?

Any must have Vw dealer/factory mods? Body kits, sports suspension?

Iirc the back seats either lift out or can lay down flat so it can be 7 or 5 seats...not 100% sure as i aint had a look around one in a good wee while

The third row headrests come off and stow in a cubby under the boot floor, then the seats fold and slide forward under the middle set

Becoming the boot floor?

Well my uncle manges to fit o2 tanks in his boot for diving with the back seats down so i think they become the bootfloor, plenty room in the back :)

Becoming the boot floor?

Yes, it's pretty much flat, all bar 6" or so nearest the back, which almost seems to slope down

My brother-in-law has a bluemotion. Decentish performance, good economy, and fairly roomy.

Just done a VW used search and there aren't many diesel DSG's about within 50 miles. :(

Picked up an '09 plate 1.9tdi 105bhp SE with 18k on the clock last year.

Ex-motability, with a few dings and scratches. Loads of storage space in them. As brim says back seats fold into the boot floor, so no spare wheel only a compressor.

Parking sensors would be nice but not essential. The SE has better stereo, alloys and a few other bits and bobs.

Aftermarket bits I've fitted include VanStyle sunblinds and LED interior bulbs. Steering wheel (even in the SE) is very much poverty spec plastic so i'll source a leather one from somewhere.

Space wise, comfortable in 7 seat guise, but you loose most of the boot space. Take 'em all out (second row being removable a la Roomster/Yeti) and you're into van territory.

Was that via a dealer?

What sort of budget are you looking at, Simon?

I'll gladly keep an eye out if anything suitable crops up :)

Not too sure. Have seen a couple for around £10k but not dsg. Ideally SE for the toys. These were 2009/10s

Not sure the 1.6 will be enough, even though its the most available engine. Probably a 1.9.

There's a nice pre reg sport with lots of extras, but well over my budget.

Yeah, saw it on Auto Trader at a VW dealership in Loughborogh.

There is a very slight DMF (i suspect) rattle, which I'll keep an eye on, but other wise tip top.

unless they have changed the touran since I had one seats six and seven do not come out they they fold ino the floor. The first row do come out, but the floor is then not flat. I had a 2l tdi liked it but not without problems had a turbo go on it the abs pump went all done under warranty, but did put be off a second hence my first Yeti.
