h and r or ebaich pro

Featured Replies

Hy everyone. Need advice on lowering springs. I wanna lower my octavia vrs estate 2.0 tdi (2008) by 20 mm. I think I will use new genuine skoda dumpers. I just cant make my mind up on which spring shall I go for... any suggestions? Thanks

Eibach pro for me, not that I have had a car on them but a friend has, prettty impressed to be fair.

Just bought eibach for mine, just need a new pair of front shocks before i fit them:)

I had Eibach Pros and they were pretty good but I know the H&Rs are also good. You would however be better to pair them with aftermarket dampers especially if you are intending changing them. There's loads of info on here. I used Koni FSDs which were pretty good too but things have moved on and there's other, possibly better options now.

the EIbach and Bilstein combo seems like a winner by all accounts, if you dont mind potentially having to replace your shocks later you could just fit the Eibach springs for now.

That is the view I have taken with mine, with 16k on the clock, I have fitted Eiback pros on mine with the stock shocks. Up until 2010 SUK offered them as an official accessory. When the stock shocks get tired I will change them, but I should be able to get another 20k out of them. Whiteline R-ARB goes on Friday.

I'd say the Eibach Pro springs are the better option.

I had an Eibach Pro Kit on my Focus, it was very good. For the amount the springs will lower the car (not much on a vRS) I would stick with a standard or OE replacement shock, or at least one of equivalent length (like a Bilstein B6). I personally don't think it's worth going for a shortened shock (eg B8) unless you're going much lower (>35mm). The Koni FSDs were (AFAIK) designed to work with a standard length spring and not a lowering spring.

The b12 kit which comes with the pro kit contains B12 shocks.

I do know some people purchased B6 to fit to eibach they already had, so I think either should be ok, it's just that you won't be able to go any lower if you chose to buy the b6. IIRC the b8 and b6 are pretty similar prices.

Just to add a different view, I've got a set of H&R comfort spring and shock combo on my VRS and very happy with the ride and look. Matching springs and shocks make sense to me.

Sure it's just a typo but the B12 kit comes with B8 shocks.

Thanks guys for all the replies. I will go with ebaich pro 20 mm lowering sring and will keep the original shocks for now... thanks again :)

It is.

I meant to type B8. Oh well :)

At one stage, probably as they were running their stock down, Bilstein dampers were cheap through euro car parts. I picked up a full set of four B4s for my Focus for less than £180. They are a bit dearer now but I think the B12 kit is the best way to buy the springs and shocks.
