Door well design flaw ?!?

Featured Replies

I was cornering on a large roundabout (in Scotland they tend to leave trees and hedges on the roundabout, totally wrecking visibility) the other day when I had to make a very sudden stop due to everyone having to stop for some muppet in a large lorry who decided to pull out in front of everyone. It was not exactly an emergency stop, just a bit hard.

Two CDs I had in the door pocket came out and landed amongst my feet and the pedals. One of them was a cherished Porcupine Tree album so it could have been nasty . This led me to have a closer look at the design of the pocket, and I came to the conclusion that the pocket is not very deep. The end nearest the pedals also has a slight curve which probably lifted the CDs slightly to allow them to come out. This would not have happened in my last car as the pockets were much deeper.

I will be more conscious of what I put in the pockets from now on.

Whats a CD?? :giggle:

Surely with a SD card slot and internal hard drive then it’s time to relegate the CD’s to the loft - not seen ours for over 5 years now as they are all on the computer / iPods / SD cards.

As for the pockets all I use mine for is the ice scraper (when it’s cold) as I hate unnecessary clutter rattling around inside the car.

Just keep a duster in mine but looking at the door pockets you have a very good point.

The design is actually more dubious than I first thought, as the depth of the pocket reduces from the back to the front. No wonder they fell out.

What is a CD...Aye OK I need to fill my HD with more.

I had an SD stuffed to capacity also but I had a real need for it for something else recently. I do not have any excuses though.

Porcupine Tree should be on your HDD permanently IMO
