Removing dead insect debris?

Featured Replies

hi guys, has anyone got any handy tips for removing really dead insects from the front of my otherwise shiny silver skoda? any suggestions involving wet and dry or a grinding disc will be disregarded, cheers.

Auto Glym bug remover

Window cleaner, works brilliantly, but apply a little polish afterwards.

I used the Turtle Wax bug remover with great results. Keep it off the body trim though. Still good for bugs and bird C*ap

I used some Hellfrauds bug & tar remover the other day which seemed to work ok but might well be better applied using a cloth rather than spraying it as it went EVERYWHERE and made quite a mess...

thanks guys, never really thought about buying a specific product to do the job, as i am a bit sceptical of things like that. ill give em a try though. i might cling film the front of the car next time i go anywhere, then i can just pull it off when i get home....i may be onto something. those people that drive jap cack can use tin foil for that fast and furious look.

A wet cloth wraped in a string bag - the sort onions or oranges come in - can do the trick.

Get a black car so it hides it better :D

Black car hiding it better - you kidding ??

I cleaned the car Saturday afternoon, it needs the front doing again and the windscreen will require a pretty good clean again too. Just takes a little night-time B-road driving ;)

I was referring to the windscreen, of course - not the paintwork!

There is a sponge that you can buy with a mesh around it.

I bought one about a year ago but haven't tried it out yet.

I've got one. I use it all the time - i think they're great

I've got one of them sponges in mesh too. Probably the best labour saving

The first thing I do when going to wash my car is soak a couple of hand towels in hot water, and lay them over the front of the car. By the time I've washed the rest of it the bugs just wipe off.

"Topping up" the vulnerable areas with a quality wax after every wash will also help...
