ICE Upgrade - have had this done, but want better - any recommendations please?

Featured Replies

I've had my front door stock speakers replaced with Rainbow DL-C6.2 components, plus a Hertz HE-2 amp, and the Skinz door pack. New tweeters put in original position of the factory ones (A-Pillars) but I still find the upper frequencies too harsh. Other people's ICE systems that I've heard always sound better but they have their tweeters mounted in pods on the outside of the A-Pillars on top of the original tweeter grills with their right tweeter is aimed at the left front headrest (and vice versa), as opposed to both of my tweeters facing each other and projecting the treble around the windscreen which I presume is the reason for the rough top-end. I also think I should get a subwoofer - has anyone any experience of this one which would fit inside my unused spare wheel space:-

My head unit is the Kenwood DNX521DAB which the dealer installed in place of the Amundsen+:-

Any recommendations for a more Hi-Fi sound would be most welcome. Thanks!

I fitted those Rainbows in my last car , nice speakers

I always move the tweeters around ie put some blue tack on the back and experiment on where they sound best , its rarely where the factory put them

Thanks - where did you find the tweeters sounded best? How have you set the crossovers for tweeter output level? And do you have a subwoofer?

Don't have an ice install in my Fabia and position varies from car to car and person to person , its an individual thing

I had a vibe active sub woofer in the boot with a quick release plug so I could unplug it when needed

Yes I used the rainbow crossovers but some head units allow you to filter some frequencies out which helps
