Blaupunkt travelpilot E1

Featured Replies

Hi all

This is my first post so please excuse me if I break any protocol rules. I have just bought a used Superb Elegance 2.5TDi after 6 years driving an E class Merc and am very pleased with it so far. However I have one problem.

The previous owner had fitted a Blaupunkt E1 travelpilot radio/sat nav system, but not by his Skoda dealer. The result is that the steering wheel controls, the instrument display and the boot CD changer all do not work. I think that Skoda used to sell this as a dealer fit option for the Superb.

Has anyone come across this problem and been able to sort it out please?

I have been told that the wriring may by CAN-BUS multiplex (whatever that means) which is supposed to make it much more difficult to get adaptors etc. Is that correct?

Thanks for your help

The blaupunkt cannot control the factory cd changer or dash display/steering controls. I think the E1 needed a special CD changer although I am not sure. If you want a changer have a look at www.bluespot.co.uk as they should be a able to supply one, you will need to run a new cable to the changer and connect a power cable behind the hu.

The only HU that works with the steering controls/dash display and the oem changer will be the one that was fitted when the car was new.

I have also been told on numerous times that only the original head unit will work with the sterring wheel controls and dot-matrix display in the dash...if there were one that did, I would have it in mine.

I am afraid the replies are correct signals are sent via one of the cars CAN buses and its not possible to interface with this, only the OEM sat nav is capable of interfacing with the multidot display and multifunction controls.

Cheapest bet is OEM| radio and external mounted GPS

Thanks for all of your replies so far.

However the plot thickens. Skoda UK say that I can get an adaptor so that the travelpilot will work the CD changer. It is part no ZGB705052906 they tell me and costs a wopping
