Octavia estate - false floor and subwoofer?

Featured Replies

Hi

Anyone fitted a false floor to their octavia estate and put a sub into the centre of the spare wheel?

I want to try it.

Steve

I've put a subwoofer into the spare wheel of my hatchback with no false floor. Flip the spare wheel upside down and a sensibly sized subwoofer should drop right in there, a bit of mdf cut to the shape of the top of the wheel to attach the subwoofer too and then a raised lip to protect it.

I will try and take some pictures and upload them for you.

Be warned though, you need a fairly powerful subwoofer imo and decent speakers to reap the benefits. I have standard speakers with a nice alpine headunit and the bass can get a bit...errr wonky and out of control because the speakers don't like it.

Theres a dude on facebook "visual ice" he actually does spare wheel well boxes

He is good too,

His do replace spares tho

You could always try something with a shallow mount sub, aslong as you get a nice sealed box formed ud be ok

Bring on the fibre glass ;)

Or message the guy on f/b

See if he will make u a proper box that slots in the spare wheel

See if he will do a copy of the jl audio ones where the spare sits over the box

You mean like this in hatchback guise

I was thinking of building a false floor like the l&k or higher spec estates and then keeping the spare wheel as I quite like it, and putting the centre of the sub box in the centre of the spare wheel.
