Hi - Leaking Octavia

Featured Replies

Hi,

Just registered looking for info to see if someone else has had the same prob as I found this morning. Water in the rear passenger side footwell. All the bungs seem to be there and all the other footwells are as dry as a bone.

Seemed to get worse driving to work today in heavy rain.

Looking underneath the car the bung underneath the footwell is dripping water (i.e. draining, slowly) and the bolts around the passenger side bolt points for the exhaust heat shield are slighty damp to touch. Rest of the underside of the car is dry. Makes me think it's coming from the front and somehow not getting into the cabin until halfway down. Doesn't stink paticularily chemically either, so hopefully not coolant or screenwash.

Any ideas?

It's going into the dealer tomorrow any way (only 4 days left on the extended warranty!!) After nearly one year of hassle free motoring this is the first thing that's popped up that isn't routine maintenance. :(

Cheers,

Niall

P.S. is this an appropriate post for this bit of the forum or should I have posted "Hi" and then cruised in to the Octavia Forum with the bulk of the post?

So I took the car to the dealer,

They checked the door seals.

They replaced the pollen filter and removed all the leaves from under the windscreen. The also used a wet vac to remove most of the water. Seemed to sort the problem, for a while...........

With the dry summer we've had I've not noticed much ingress, but now that it's started raining again the rear passenger footwell is again soaked.

Bizarrely no other footwells have this problem. This time I was able to check periodically and the water first showed itself by the inside passenger seat rail join with the carpet, i.e. the middle of the car?!? The wetness has then spread across the back of the footwell and the carpet is still bone dry under the front passenger seat. Wierd.

Anyone out there got any ideas as to where I should start looking?

Niall
