H&R spring lowering what shocks?

Featured Replies

I've had a search around on the forum for this but as im on my phone its quite difficult to search

Anyway i need a couple of rear springs so thinking its time to lower considered coilovers but cant afford much so im looking at eibach 30mm lowering springs how much of lowering is that on a vrs?

Thanks for any help given! :)

Don't think they do a set for the vrs.

Numerous topics about this tho.

Some will say only get something rated for a vrs, but some will say as long as they are rated correctly then why not.

Generally most will recommend H&R springs as the do a set rated for the vrs and drop a VRS by 20mm.

But then some will say you need new shocks and some will say its not a must.

It all depends on your budget and what your personal opinion is!

As above, I'd stick with the H&R springs for the VRS.

thanks for the suggestions! i've now gone and got myself a set of h&r springs, new rear bump stops, front top mounts and bearings and some antiroll bar bushes as all needs doing i may aswell do it all at the same time :)

what shocks you fitting?

Iv been thinking about dropping vrs but as the front is so low anyway i was thinking maybe just the rear? Any thoughts???

In my opinion the rear of the vrs sits too low compared to the front looks wise for me, i would do the reverse and just do front.

When i was looking at just springs i considered getting the superpro like top mounts from dpm which gives you an additional 10mm drop apparently so teamed up with h&rs would give a nice height i would have thought.

But i ended up with coilovers instead :)

Given that those seem to be an awful lot cheaper than standard vRS shocks (which are also made by Bilstein) you'd be better off looking at B6 or B8, or B4 GAS as a minimum.

That is really cheap for a full set of shocks on an octy. Unbelievably so. My standard front shocks from TPS were just short of £70 each. + it doesn't state that they are suitable for RS either, so I'd avoid.

hmmm im gonna just put these in, if i dont like the ride then swap out the shocks i like a bit of work!

So you wanna get the tracking aligned twice? Sod that...

Remember, they DON'T state that they are suitable for RS... Pretty sure they'll be a naff substitute.

Also, don't be surprised if they don't have the relevant drop-link mounting points since they are not an RS fit shock

yes plus they aren't shortened so dont and wont match the springs, they just wont work as well as they should. You need a shorter shock to match the shorter spring, not sure who to suggest, koni do do sport shocks for the vrs, you looked at them?

I do tracking myself so no problems there

Springs are in still have to settle but to me they ride ok but time will tell :)
