Ariel Atom

Featured Replies

Just come back from a 'super car taster' at the kenilworth track. Had a drive in a Ferrari and Lamborghini very nice cars indeed but not very involving if you get me.

But then. Had the chance to be a passenger in the aerial atom with a highly trained driver at the wheel. This thing is a completely different kettle of fish altogether. Same engine and I think the same supercharger I got in my civic but this weights next to nothing and the handling is sublime. One of the best experiences of my life and they even let me have another lap free because I enjoyed it so much lol.

If anyone is going to one of these super car taster things then I'd definitely recommended going in the atom.

The company is called Everyman racing, my gf bought it for me from the buyagift.com site

Still can't get over how fast it is lol

Dan

I've been on one of these experience days with "Everyman Racing" in Warickshire.

I got my hands on a GTR and a Gallardo..... GTR all day long!!! Was taken on a couple of "hot laps" in each and was awesome!

No Atom when I went :(

Ive seen an Atom on quite a few trackdays now. They always seem to be driven really slow, like the driver is petrified of it. Id love a go in one, i reckon id be pretty petrified as well

Make of car corrected in the title. ;)

Had a passenger ride in an atom, it's mind bending in the right hands.

I'd love a go but only ever seen one on the roads. Apparently they like track rods and often need replacing every 10k or so. It's definitely in my 10 car garage though

Yeah I was rather under whelmed by the Lambo really, it misses the massive shove you get from the GTR IMO, still wouldn't turn my nose uyp at one though :p

Had the same engine in my Elise - K20a with Jackson s/c. Sold that car, but it's now 360 bhp with chargecooler and cams!

Atoms are a bit of a handful hence many not driven that fast, chassis is not as good as a Lotus, but better than it used to be and revised engine mounts also no longer rattle your teeth out.

I think they look amazing, but think less practical than a bike so really only good for a third or fourth car.

seen two Atoms in my life; first time was on my way to my mums funeral 4 years ago, the other was around five weeks ago and that one was shifiting some :D IIRC there's a member on here who owns one aswel as a Fabia vRS SE  I just love the design, the exoskeleton.

The Atom is number one on my 'lottery win car' list. I want to drive one of these things before I die. Whether that's immediately before I die is another matter :-)

They are fun cars, but rarely driven properly in my experience.

Which is a shame as it makes them look slow.

Mind you, being so open does heighten the whole track experience.

I went to Everyman in Prestwold last Wednesday. Drove Lambo then ferrari. Loved the Lambo and the Ferrari in comparison was crap.

Instructor was so much better screaming at me to drive faster, where as the Ferrari bloke never really said anything at all.

Went for the passenger ride in the vxr8 afterwards, took the missus or I would have paid more to go in the KTM X-Bow. But blimey the vxr8 was quick, even that handled pretty well I thought!

The instructor told me that on that day if I was looking to go fast I should have chose the GTR!

If I get chance to go again I will choose the GTR and Atom :)

I HAVE driven a 260BHP prodrive tewaked one approx 4 years ago ( given as a birthday present )

All i will say is AWESOME . and even that is an understatement.

This is also at the top of my lottery win list, a small 250BHP road legal & a new 500bhp track car, along with driver training & f1 fitness training ( you need extremely strong neck muscles ).

This is the one i drove ( me in drivers seat ).

Lucky you being able to drive it!! I'd love to drive it. Wanted the GTR so bad :(

An ex colleague used to drive one of those, mostly racing, but when the weather was nice in and out of work too.

Epic is the only word to describe it.

Was there the option to drive a 2.0 Fabia?

Now there's a beast I'd really like to get my hands on.

I drove an Atom in the wet at Donington a few weeks back. It was the normally aspirated one (260hp I think) and yes they are really quick. I didn't have any problem with the handling even in the wet. I didn't go mad with it but slides were easy enough to correct. Speed wise I was passing all the Ferarri and Lambos etc, the Atom substantially faster. I'd love to have a go in the dry. The only problem I had with it was reaching the pedals. I'm 5' 10" and still had to have sponge behind me. Maybe my legs are freakishly short :S
