Does anyone know if I need new can gateway to fit a bolero into my 57 plate vrs? I've heard you can get the version letter via vcds but I don't have have vcds!

I'd be grateful if an expert can tell

'57 plate should be OK.

Early '07 plates were a bit hit and miss.

You'll need 'L' or later.

Have a look at the VCDS owners map in the 'Diagnostics & VCDS' for an owner near you who could help.

I,ve known some 07/57 still have prefix H & J Gateways fitted.Crazy for that year car.I enqiured about one from an 08 reg and that had a K prefix which isn,t any good either.

One version of "K" will work OK ---> I updated mine to this version 0178

Be carefull with "P" because versions

Thanks for that - think I'll go and check the 'K' version I took out of mine and put in the garage.

If it's the 0178 version, I might put it back in and see if it works or gets the battery drain.

I saw that on ross tech wiki and got worried as I have such a P revision. However I took the plunge anyway and never had any issues...

But if I can sell it as a CAN gateway that doesn't suffer from battery drain then it can stop gathering dust in my garage and be of use to someone.

Hello, I bought Octavia and started fitting some features. I started with maxi dot and cruise control,

my other planes are:

 

- bolero/colombus radio

- parking sensors

- multifunctional steering wheel

- original skoda BT handsfree

 

I know, I have to change gateway for some of those things (bolero battery draining issue and so on). 

I have an offer to recieve some parts directly from Skoda Factory for great price and I would like to get new gateway. I do not know exact needed numbers of compatible parts for features I'm planning.

So i would like to ask, if someone could tell me the code of the gateway unit, which will support my plans and will work in my 2004 pre-facelift car, so I could tell it to the guy from Skoda and he would sell me this exact unit. Thank you very much !!!
