Momentary Loss of Power - anybody had the same?

Featured Replies

High guys, I'm in Germany at the moment visiting the in-laws and my Superb seems to have fallen ill :-(

Driving today on the autobahn in heavy rain I experienced a complete loss of electrical power which lasted about a second or so. It happened a number of times and it was worrying enough that I travelled the last 50Km's on smaller Landstrasse roads in case she gave up totally.

When the power dropped out, the dash went dark for a second or so, my Columbus went dark and the automotive power also dropped straight off. It was long enough for the speedo needle to spin round to zero then back up to speed again. I'm driving a 2009 2.0 TDI 170 DSG with 50k on the clock and it was serviced only 4 weeks ago.

My gut reaction is that some water has got into somewhere that doesn't like water. Has anybody experienced this before?

Mostly likely to be a faulty earth connector. Given nature of fault it's likely to be one of the main earth junctions to ecu. Checking battery connectors and all main earth points would be a good place to start.

Cheers
