Haldex blue controller

Featured Replies

Just managed to grab one of these hens teeth of eBay.

Does any one have a post on fitting these blue controllers?

Cheers

Ive heard of these but what do they do?

They basically allow more power to go to the rear diff and increases the speed at which its does it at

That's spot on. Cheers guys.

Can't wait to get it on

You can buy them off the shelf just not often up second hand

Makes a huge difference

But a pita to change

How much you pay for it ?

haldex have stopped making the gen 1 blue controller so no one stocks or can get a hold of these any more so they will only go up in price.

so with that in mind i paid good money

Worth every penny really transforms the car as in standard form its just a heavy fwd lol

You really will be shocked at how it unlocks the cars potential :-)

+1

The big difference is that it engages the rear as soon as the throttle demands - it doesn't wait until the front wheels slip.

You may find references to permanent 50-50 lock, but that's only available with the remote (I've only ever seen one) and TBH, it's not worth it.

You can only get the remote on gen 2 onwards:(

There are modified Gen 1 controllers that have a switch wired in to give Standard, Variable and 50-50.

On Gen 2 and Gen 4, Haldex themselves offer remote controller giving Stock, Race and Eco.

ooo  might have to look into this......no switch required tho, just give me 50/50 all the time

The only advantage of the 50-50 is on a track so that you don't lose rear drive whilst braking and cornering. The standard setting is much better suited to fast road use.

There is also a 'competition version' of the Gen 1 firmware which monitors braking as well as throttle demand.

Hold the phone people.

Just got a minted 2003 Audi S3 thats completely standard so the controllers going on the S3.

That along with the shark map that Broteks doing for me should be a right B road weapon:)

im still keeping the Skud though as its worth pea nuts to sell and will make more use from her than the dosh i would get if i sold her.

i Have a manual controller on mine with the pump wired up to a switch. Switch off = 100/00, switch on = permanent 50/50

that would be intresting to see, do u have any pics of the set up?

also just had a worrying thought but how can you tell the difference between a standard and perfomance controller???

obviously these are rare enought (GEN1) to find and expensive to buy so whats stopping people just buying an old standard controller and painting it blue and chucking it on eBay?

which one? sounds interesting!

If you're looking to get rid of the old controller, I know someone who might be interested in buying it.

Andy waite had it made (his golf in link)

and i bought one from him. Theres a manual adjuster 'valve' in the boot to set the 'split' and then as said the haldex pump is wired to a switch. In fairness it can be set to 51/49 FR max as a genuine 50/50 would result in no oil flow and kill the pump.

Will get pics when i get a mo'.

nice setup, look forward to seeing it!
