advice please! Missing car feature...Octavia VRS

Featured Replies

Hi would appreciate some advice please. Purchase a used car for the first time this weekend after 5 years of company cars.

Hi - introducing myself after picking up car this weekend - must be one of the first FL Mk2 VRS' registered in August 09 (i think) and I am loving it!!! Please see below comment though for which I would appreciate the forums advice..........

The car was bought from an independant dealer and only in the way home did I discover that it appears not to have Bluetooth as stated in the advert. This is really irritating, as it was a key feature (I know I should have checked)....

The car itself is an Otavia VRS 2.0 tfsi 09 plate facelift. Unless I'm missing something there is no way to activate Bluetooth on bolero touchscreen system despite the phone button (just mutes stereo), no maxidot computer either so no use tooth on menu. I have even e-mailed Skoda UK to see if it left the factory with this option with no response just yet (BH weekend etc)

Any advice would be gratefully received.

Did you buy it from skoda? or an independant?

I think an independant might fob you off whilst skoda might be helpful.

The garage probably just saw the phone button on the stereo and assumed it has bluetooth. All the fl stereo systems have the phone button as standard, but if there isnt a bt module instalked itll just mute it.

An independant, I'm getting some good responses to this issue on Pistonheads also...... I'm just about bordering on coming to terms with the issue and enjoying the car for what it is...!

........ Can you install a BT module? Or has anyone done this?

ah pistonheads, i use that site a lot too.

Yes you can for the module. The wiring to the back of the stereo and the mic is pretty easy. Did it myself in about 2 hours

Plenty of guides on here if you do a search.

Thanks for that.... I'll look into it. Whilst I'm on the forum I have to say this an epic all round car. Not something I ever thought I would consider at 27 but love it more every time I drive it! The idea is to keep hold of it for 6 months until the 2013 vrs is released, I just couldn't wait!
